About

At Westside Speech Therapy (WST), our mission is to provide individualized, culturally sensitive, and neurodiversity-affirming speech and language therapy services. We lead with both professionalism and empathy, ensuring that we not only assess each client’s strengths and areas of need but also actively listen to the goals and desires of both clients and their families. Using evidence-based practices, we equip families with therapy goals and strategies tailored to their needs.

Our practice stands out for its client-centered approach, where we prioritize the communication goals of each child and their family. Offering in-home services eliminates the need for families to commute and creates a safe, familiar environment that fosters active parent involvement and collaboration. This collaborative effort increases the understanding of speech and language challenges while providing families with effective strategies to support speech and language beyond therapy sessions.

We are proud to offer bilingual (Spanish-English) speech and language therapy services, ensuring that both children and their caregivers feel supported. For families where caregivers may not be fluent in English, having consultation and therapy explained in their primary language provides comfort and enables meaningful family education and coaching.

Meet Javier Gonzalez, M.S., CCC-SLP

Javier Gonzalez is a licensed speech-language pathologist and the founder of Westside Speech Therapy (WST). His journey began as a behavioral aide in elementary special education classrooms, which quickly led him to work as an ABA behavioral therapist with students across elementary, middle, and high school settings. For three years, he supported students both in schools and at home, attending numerous speech therapy sessions with his clients. It was during this time that Javier recognized the profound impact that tailored communication strategies could have on students with speech and language delays and disorders.

"I saw firsthand how effective communication could lead to improved self-regulation, independence, and overall confidence. It was this experience that inspired me to pursue a career as a speech-language pathologist"

He has spent the past seven years working in schools, with five of those years simultaneously in the medical field, providing speech therapy to pediatric clients with various speech and language challenges, including developmental delays, speech disorders, and traumatic brain injuries.

Javier’s passion for speech therapy extends beyond helping children communicate; he is committed to bridging the gap in parent education and collaboration. At Westside Speech Therapy, he works closely with families, providing in-home services that actively involve parents, caregivers, and siblings in the therapy process. Focusing on individualized strategies and ongoing support ensures that progress made during therapy sessions continues at home, leading to more meaningful outcomes for his clients.
